Position Summary
AGCVA is looking for a motivated and energetic association professional and event planner to manage its Valley District and grow its membership base in Northern Virginia. Based in Northern Virginia, this position is charged with managing the NOVA district which includes Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, and Alexandria. This includes creating and executing a strategy for membership growth and engagement as well as developing and managing local district events. Further, this position serves as the staff liaison with the district executive committee in the Valley district. AGCVA’s Valley District encompasses Staunton, Harrisonburg, Winchester, and surrounding areas.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Staff Liaison to district executive committee (Valley).
Prepare and distribute agendas/reports.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment in executing strategic plan and business plan initiatives in the local district.
Attend meetings and take notes.
Work with executive committee on annual programming, events, and budgets in collaboration with Director of Membership & Events.
Collaborate with the local district president and the Director of Membership & Events in developing executive committee agenda.
Locate and secure meeting locations (e.g., restaurants, offices, virtual Zoom).
Be first point of contact for district members including member prospects.
District Staff Liaison (Valley).
Collaborate with the local district president and the Director of Membership & Events on annual event calendar.
Manage district events in collaboration with Director of Membership & Events and other team members as needed through use of the event template process and procedure.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment in seeking out meeting venue, negotiating contracts, and reconciling and approving invoices.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment in seeking out other needed event vendors (e.g., catering, furniture, and so on), negotiating contracts, and reconciling and approving invoices.
Attend and manage district events onsite (e.g., registration, venue management, and so on), which may include times outside of normal business hours.
Manage nametags, signage, menu, deposits, and other onsite logistics needs for district events.

Requires a demonstrated operating knowledge of computers including an intermediate level ability with Microsoft Office programs and the AMS (Naylor).

This is a typical office environment, with frequent sitting, standing, and walking, and minimal lifting. This position is remote/work-from-home and based in Northern Virginia. It entails frequent trips to a wide variety of locations within the districts, occasionally on short notice, as well as occasional trips to other locations for meetings, events, and planning. A valid driver's license is required.
