 A Substation &#38; Transmission Technician Apprentice provides the technical skills required to give AECC a soundly constructed, properly maintained, and reliably operated power delivery system. In this position, you will be given the opportunity to work alongside peers who are versatile, enthusiastic, and strive to push AECC and our mission forward. 
 Responsibilities 
 
 Participates in the installation, maintenance and testing programs for AECC&#39;s or Member Cooperatives&#39; substations, transmission lines, and delivery points. 
 Ensures compliance with AECC&#39;s Prescribed System Maintenance and Testing Program and NERC compliance and recordkeeping associated with AECC maintenance and tracking forms and documents. 
 Reads substation data. Collects and logs data. Visually inspects equipment at each meter location and reports problems. 
 Maintains and operates test equipment and tools used for construction and maintenance. 
 Performs tests on AECC&#39;s or member cooperatives&#39; systems using AECC&#39;s test equipment and procedures. 
 Assembles, installs, tests, calibrates, and maintains meters, relays, communication, control, stored energy, lighting, climate control, transformers, switches, breakers, regulators, communications equipment, transmission lines and associated systems. 
 Assists with the inspection, use and maintenance of AECC&#39;s mobile substations. 
 Assists other AECC personnel, Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Inc (AECI) personnel and Member Cooperatives&#39; personnel, upon request, with tasks relating to this area of responsibility and assists them in the performance of their duties in times of need. 
 Participates in safety meetings, job briefing safety sessions and implements safety in the work area. 
 Participates in coordinating the installation of parts and supplies used for construction and maintenance. 
 Handles stress effectively and works well with others. 
 Minimum Qualifications 
 
 Pursuant to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is designated safety-sensitive according to AECC/AECI standards and processes. 
 EEI Position Testing will be conducted as part of the selection process. 
 As a condition of employment, this position requires a post-offer pre-employment drug test and requires passing a DOT physical. 
 Valid Driver&#8217;s License. 
 High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
 Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the state of Arkansas and stay overnight as required to complete work assignments. 
 Must be able to work extra hours when necessary and report to work whenever needed during non-scheduled working periods. 
 Must complete Helper Module I &#38; II within 36 months of employment date. 
 
 Minimum Experience Required 
 
 Technician I:  High School Diploma or GED, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to pass a Substation and Transmission Technician I qualification tests within 1 year. 
 Technician II:  High School Diploma or GED, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to pass a Substation and Transmission Technician II qualification tests within 1 year. 
 
 Preferred Qualifications 
 
 Associate Degree in Electronics, Civil/Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Management or equivalent 
 Formal training and/or Certification in Circuit Breaker, Power Transformer, and/or Transmission Line Maintenance and Testing. 
 Mobile Crane Operator Certification 
 Training and Certification in Doble, Megger, Dilo, and similar test equipment 
 Journeyman Electrician License or Master Electrician License 
 Substation Technician Certification
