The Associated General Contractors of Texas is a statewide trade association representing highway, heavy, utility, and industrial construction firms, and allied industry members. The role of the Controller will be to maintain accounting records and facilitate the handling of the financial affairs of the Chapter.
Reports to the Executive Vice President of the Chapter.
Maintain contact and appropriate relationships with association members, auditors, vendors, banks, computer service companies, and other organizations in the industry.
SCOPE OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the preparation of accurate financial records and monthly statements.
Assist the Executive Vice President in the preparation of annual chapter budgets.
Assist with annual financial audit.
Maintain records for the Chapter PAC and adhere to all reporting requirements.
Maintain accounting records and document management as required by law.
Maintain and manage Chapter credit card accounts.
Assist and manage HR functions related to benefits and pension payments.
Maintain employee and family cellular phone plan.
Generate, analyze, and distribute monthly financial statements including accounts payable and accounts receivable reports.
Facilitate vendor contracts and lease agreements.
Obtain and process signature cards and resolutions for bank accounts.
Maintain records for financial securities and investments.
Reconcile bank statements for all bank accounts monthly.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation.
Deposit funds on a timely basis at current banking locations.
Reconcile petty cash.
Maintain journals and general ledger for the Chapter.
Generate dues billings to members.
Generate invoices for meetings, functions, and all association activities.
Attend and support Chapter functions and events as requested.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
At least two or more years of experience working in and around bookkeeping and/or financial departments.
Experience working for a non-profit corporation is preferred.
Working knowledge of standard accounting operating procedures and principles.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to show initiative and action beyond what is required to improve services.
Ability to complete assignments independently.
Effective working knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
